profile

Hambleton Decorating is an interior decorating & design practice based in Rutland, in the heart of the UK.

We are passionate about creating elegant interiors for both a town or country setting, and our work covers the hotel, restaurant, private club & residential sectors.

Stefa Hart established the business in 1989, following requests from guests of Hambleton Hall who had admired her work there.   Tim Hart has owned Hambleton Hall since 1979 and Stefa has masterminded the look of the hotel and restaurant there ever since Nina Campbell’s initial decoration.

Due to a great interest in architecture, art, antiques and decorative arts, having studied at the V&A for a year in 1968 (Dip Fine & Decorative Arts), as well as several years working for the Antiques Year Book, she decided to build her passion for interiors into a business.

Stefa’s style is elegant, achieved through the use of colour and beautiful fabrics, lovely furniture & a breadth of knowledge in period houses.   She blends antique pieces alongside modern finishes & fittings, to create an interior that is comfortable & practical.

We work throughout the UK & Europe.

Our current projects include:

  • A London Knightsbridge flat

  • An 18th century Farmhouse in Rutland

  • A Mews House in Queens Gate

  • A Grade 1 listed London private members club

  • A Modern House in the South of France

  • A 17th century Fort overlooking the Mediterranean

  • Ongoing works at Hambleton Hall
